Security expert witness service, security litigation consulting and security opinion expert testimony by a highly qualified and experienced CPP is cost effective throughout the U.S.

Roger H. Schmedlen, a Michigan based security expert, who is board certified in security management, has served as an opinion expert on security/loss control negligence cases in the following states:

Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

Security expert witness services are cost effective for attorneys anywhere in the United States as all out of state travel time is significantly discounted. (Please scroll to the end of this page to view travel time caps or see the map at Security Consulting Rates and Terms.)

Roger H. Schmedlen, is not a university professor or retired law enforcement official.  He is a real world security practitioner and security expert with over thirty-five years field experience in as a private sector security consultant and international investigator.  In addition to expert witness work, he handles security consulting projects and conducts comprehensive security surveys/risk analyses.  (The litigation statistics above cover a period of over 25 years.  Mr. Schmedlen only averages about 4 - 5 expert cases a year.)

It is generally accepted that to be considered a credible expert witness in security and loss control litigation, board certification as a CPP is necessary.  Mr. Schmedlen was qualified to obtain his Certified Protection Professional credential by review at the inception of this program.  However, rather than being grandfathered into this program, he elected to earn his certification by examination for increased credibility.

Mr. Schmedlen has authored many published articles covering security, loss prevention and investigation topics.  He is employed with Loss Prevention Concepts, Ltd., a business which provides a variety of security and investigative related services ranging from security surveys, security consulting and electronic countermeasures to specialized investigation services.

An electronic version of his extensive curriculum vitae is available upon request.  (Please see Curriculum Vitae Request.)

* Includes three criminal defense cases.  ** Includes one habeas corpus case, two federal prosecution cases and one subrogation case.  *** Denotes only Expert Witness depositions and court testimony.  Mr. Schmedlen has additionally been deposed and provided court testimony on many civil, criminal and NLRB cases as a result of his field operations.
